About Me

Through my PGCE in Primary Education, over 20 years teaching and continuous training and workshops in the field of Early Years and SEND education, I have gained an in-depth understanding of child development and effective learning, communication and behaviour strategies. I managed the Early Years provision at The South Downs Special School for 10 years and in that time developed the skills of both Teachers and TAs and successfully led the Early Years Foundation Stage through two consecutive outstanding OFSTED inspections.
As Early Years Manager, it was my responsibility to ensure all the children in the EYFS were receiving the best quality teaching and learning experiences and to use my knowledge and experience to support and train staff to successfully impact on the children’s progress. I have a broad knowledge and understanding of a wide range of Special Educational Needs, particularly ASD and have 15 years experience in addressing the needs of infants and toddlers with disabilities.
I have a sound knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice 2014 and the EHC planning pathway having been part of the assessment and planning stages for potential South Downs children. I have knowledge and experience in person-centred planning and have consistently provided all children with the best possible opportunities to achieve their potential.

Testimonials
Jo Dyall was an excellent leader of our Early Years provision delivering an outstanding education and facilitating the achievement of outstanding outcomes for the children in her classes. Jo worked with children with a range of special educational needs and disabilities including those with autism, those with a range of profound and multiple learning disabilities and a range of complex medical needs. Jo ran excellent workshops and support activities for parents and families and was very effective at supporting the transition into full time education for the children with whom she worked. Jo worked very successfully with a range of professionals including therapists, psychologists and Local Authority managers to provide the best possible wrap around support for her children and their families. In the time that Jo worked as the early years manager her provision achieved two concurrent outstanding judgements from Ofsted for the quality of education provided and for the outcomes of the children she supported.

She is always able to support children in a holistic manner, seeking advice from the wider multidisciplinary team and embedding it into her teaching. This ensures children develop skills that are functional to their everyday living and their learning. Jo is very creative and motivates children to learn and communicate. She has always been passionate about what she does and this has created positive outcomes for the children she supports.
